The yankees are a veteran team that know the right time to cash it in for the season and after the big game to close out Yankee Stadium this is it. Ozzie challenged his pitcher to win a big game and here is his chance to get the job done. The Twins are 2-6 in the last eight and are in trouble tonight. Vazquez: 22-7 TSR vs. division

This game to me is all about starting pitching. Hernandez is done and the
Rockies will use him to finish up the stretch but that is about as far as he
will go. He has been absolutely torn apart at home at 0-2 with an ERA over 14.
Geer has given up just two earned in his last three starts to include a game
against the Rockies. Hernandez has only given up two or less in 2 of his last
ten starts and has allowed 14 in his last two starts against the Padres. Left
handers are hitting just .188 against Geer.

The bats for the Rockies blew up yesterday but they are still hitting just
.192 in the last ten while the Padres are hitting over .300 in that same
spot.

Changes in MLB affect Plays

I thought this would be the appropiate title with all of the changes going on
in the big leagues. Tonight's card suggested it was the perfect theme.

Oakland @ Boston:

Okay homer disclaimer as I am a BoSox fan and I am still not sure I have
gotten over the Manny deal but here we go.

Boston -139

The most telling news to me is when Peter Gammons said this is a relief for
Franconia. Dealing with Manny had worn on him so much it was physically ailing
him. Tito is a players manager and if it affected him then it affected the team.
The Loose attitude will get them in the win column tonight against Oakland. I
don't make a habit of betting on teams that have lost three straight but so has
Oakland and at least the sox lost to LAA.

Rockies -107

The fish let the deadline go with no changes and seem alright fo rit but this
line is stinky!The rockies are a favorite?!?! this line stinks so of course I am
biting on it. Take the Rockies.

Angels -105

These teams both made changes but the most evident one was Pudge not being
able to handle the Yankee pitching staff just yet. It takes awhile for a catcher
and Ponson needs help. The Angels have not skipped a beat since Tex joined them.
Best team in baseball at this price is worth it.

Cinciny -108

The reds shipped off Griffey and to me this is close to the Manny
situation. The reds team was ready to move him and it made Dunn happy and made
room for youngsters. Bailey is tough on the Hill but Washington has a skin and
bones line up.

Sox Vs Angels: A report came out that Lackey is in some trouble with arm
fatigue but what kind of factor will it be tonight.

Butcher said. "Even position players … Even coaches. Some times it lasts six or
nine months for us.

"Basically, your velocity is going to be there. It

that feel just isn't there. Your arm kind of feels like a wet noodle. … You just
kind of grind it out. Most guys have an idea when they're going to get
it."

John Lackey has an idea — now.

"It usually happens for me
around the 100-inning mark," Lackey said. "It's just my 100 innings happened a
little later than usual."

Since spending the first six weeks of the
season on the disabled list with a triceps strain, Lackey has thrown 921/3
innings in 13 starts. His first nine starts were outstanding — 6-1 with a 1.44
ERA, seven innings or more in all nine, two runs or fewer in eight of the
nine.

In his past four games, Lackey is 2-1 but he has a 7.61 ERA with 36
hits allowed in 232/3 innings. He has pitched seven innings just once and given
up three runs or more in all four starts.

He gave up 15 hits in a
no-decision at Texas and six runs in a victory over the Cleveland Indians, the
most he has allowed in any of his 77 career victories.

Lackey
acknowledged dead arm is "maybe a little bit" of a factor in the recent change
in his numbers. But he chafes at any deeper analysis.

"I don't know,
man," he said. "I don't have any excuses. I just didn't pitch that well. I don't
know what you want me to say. You either get it done or you don't. People
analyze that stuff too much.""""""

I look for a new look by Lackey and looking for this one to go under the
total.

The Dodgers acquired Berora from the Royals and he will be
good for depth at SS and may take over as early as today for Hu. Big Z has some
good numbers in his last three but Lowe's are better in key area's like WHIP and
ERA. The pen is well rested since they did not have to show last night and we
have a homer umpire in the park.

Cleveland @
Detroit

Cleveland +107 and Over 10-105

Detroit's pen is in
shambles and both starters will give up a few runs of their own. Whether they
are at home or not I can't bet on a team that is a favorite that lost four
straight. The tribe and the over are my leans. Rogers gets hammered in day games
and there is an over umpire in the mix. My only concern is the wind is blowing
in again but not as strong as last night.

Detroit / Indians Under 9.5

Don't mess with mother nature play of the night. The wind is whipping in from
the right field pretty fast and that will keep pop flys in the park. At first
glance you will have plenty of reasons to take the over but lets dig a bit
deeper. Byrd's numbers are not great but he gets 2 runs of support in his last
three. Both pitchers combined hit the under at a 14-9 clip on the year although
they don't have great numbers overall. Verlander has hit the under in 6 out of
his last 7 starts. I have mother nature and a nice price to take this one.

Pittsburgh +142

Hear me out. Snell has been real bad BUT he pitches well against Arizona only
surrending 3 runs in his last two starts. Arizona is just 2-8 in its last ten
starts and the Bucs are hitting .300 against right handers in the last 10. The
Bucs have better bullpen numbers too.

Reds +122

Tell me what I am missing here? The Reds have done well against the fish ths
year, have the better record in the last ten and the hit lefties very well. The
bullpen for the Reds has been awesome and I have no reason to rant on abou this
I am taking the Reds. Cueto is a wreck on the road but its worth it here.

Sea/ Bos: I would take Seattle to beat the Sox if they were not in a four
game losing streak. Colon has been doing it with great run support and he won't
get that tonight. They are still focusing on the fight last night and chemistry
in the clubhouse.

KC / NYY: I would like to take KC Because Davies is back, but KC is slumping
too and the Yanks still are pumped from the Giambi big fly and it could set off
a run for the pinstripes.

Under 8.5 +100 Baltimore / Toronto: Unique spot for these
teams to get the under. I will check on the umpire as well, but look at these
numbers. The O's hit just .226 on the road against righthanders and the under
has cashed 20 out of 31 times. The Jays at home against soutpaws are equally has
inpet as they hit just .225 and the under 15-9-2 at home. This game is alo
littered with under trends. Under is
12-3 in the last 15 meetings in Toronto. Under is 20-8 in BAL last 28 on field
turf.Under is 13-4 in TOR last 17 home
games.

Atlanta
-143

Don't like to take too much chalk, but
the Braves are one of the best home teams and Hudson pitches well at home going
5-1 on the year. He hasonly allowed more than 3 earned runs once in his last 7
starts and that was in interleague. Moyer has struggled against Atlanta giving
up ten runs in his lasttwo starts against the Braves and has been inconsistent
throughout the year.

Washington
+100

With the freak LIncecum on the hill the
Giants will get some good looks but in the last three starts its Bergmann that
has the better numbers in certain categories. In his last four starts there has
only been one game that he has given up any runs. I will take a shot on the home
team!

MLB Tonight

Okay let's get the slate started tonight with some quick hits and
look at the big slate.

Tor Vs NY--The Yanks finally get a starting nod
to Joba and that's good for him, the bad news is he will be facing Halladay and
the Jays. The Jays are off a few losses but playing better ball and getting
great bullpen help, not that they will need it. I am going to pass here but lean
to the Jays with Joba getting his first start. TOR are 8-3 in their last 11 overall.TOR are 7-2 in Halladays last 9 starts vs. NYY.

STL @ Washington--I am
playing the home team in this one. Lohse is pitching well of late but that comes
to an end here. The Cards have struggled against left handers and Lohse has a
high ERA on the road. The bullpen has an ERA over 7 in the last three for the
birds and the rested Nats get the win. Perez: Wash 10-2 at home vs.
righties. Cardinals are 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed
starter. Nationals are 4-1 in Perezs last 5 home
starts.

Washington

Cin @ Phi--With the road
numbers that Harang has put up I may be asking for trouble but I like the Reds
tonight. Bruce and the boys are starting to hit and score some runs and that is
what makes this club tick. Phillies are just 6-13 in game two of a series and
they get caught napping here again.

Reds are 8-1 in Harangs last 9 starts vs. National League
East.

Reds are 13-3 in Harangs last 16 starts with the total set at
9.0-10.5.

Reds are 12-3 in Harangs last 15 starts when their opponent
scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Reds are 8-2 in Harangs last 10 road starts vs. a team with a
winning record.

I know that Campillo has some great numbers but he should give
up some runs tonight and the Braves bats are smoking and that leads to another
over. The wind is blowing out to dead center and the Marlins have been all about
overs to include these numbers.

get more interaction in here just to get some quality baseball handicappers in

Now let me try and get some winners for tonight: ---Over 10 Col / Phi

I don't know why this total still hovers around ten, the last two games alone
give yougood reason to take the over. Then the pitchers struggle the rockie
bullpen issues and the hot hitting will make me take it again today. Umpire and
weather not a factor here.

Braves +115--The Braves are not actually stellar on the road but I will back them here
tonight. The Brewers are a talent that are mismanaged and that is an edge in
this series to begin with. I look for the rebound with the Braves
tonight.

Angels -126-- The Angels are one of the best teams in the baseball world but they are
not getting the respect from the lines makers. Until they do I will be taking
them too.

2-2 the day before quickly changed into 0-3, but I press on and have a quick
hit card for today in the bigs.

Minny / Detroit Under 9.5 --Two decent pitchers
and the wind blowing in. The umpire has a huge strikezone and I will take the
under.

Yankees -1.5 --riding this horse until it falls
off. Everyone is hitting on the Yanks and Wang got an extra days rest as well.

KC/Tor over 7.5--Coming back with this one. The
hitters in the 3-4 spot for these teams are hitting the ball well and the
pitchers are having a tough time with no help from the bullpen. I like Toronto
too but will stay with the total.

SF/FLa Under 8.5--two southpaws on the hill and
the fish struggle against the lefties. A serious under umpire hitting 70% unders
and the wind is blowing in.

Cubs--Lilly is pitching great and the Cubs own
the Bucs this year. The Bucs struggle against leftys while the Cubs excel and
they have a huge edge in the bullpen. Take the run line if you don't want to
drop the juice.

Saturday Baseball

the plate hitting just .218 against righties in the last ten and they will fall

The tribe is still worthy of your money and they have moved the lineup around
lately to take advantage of the hitters in the position they need them to be in.
Pettitte is quietly having a lousy season and Carmona is pitching well and
getting run support at an average of 7 per start. The Tribe win tonight.

Mets +122

Hard to pass on the Mets anytime when you can get them at a dog price. These
teams are knotted across the board when you look at starting pitching numbers as
well as bullpen numbers. Tim Tischida is behind the plate and home teams are
just 1-5 in that spot.

Saturday May 3rd MLB

Lilly has not pitched well on the season but I look for his fortune to change
against the Cardinals as he has had a decent history against them. The Cubs have
won 10 of the last 14 against the Cardinals and Soriano is swinging a hot stick
again. I'll take the Cubbies.

Milwaukee / Houston Over 9.5

If you get this at 9.5 or 10 it won't matter thie one will go over the total.
Parra and Backe both have had above average ERA's on the year but most
importantly the lineups are hitting and scoring runs with two outs and that is
always good when you have the over.

Is anyone paying attention to the Giants? They are playing very well and have
lost the tag of lovable losers and they are making money. Kendrick has been
hittable and don't worry about Misch for the Giants. The Phillies struggle
against lefties at the plate and their pen is doing well in relief.

Misch : SF 172-116 after scoring and allowing 3 runs or less
Kendrick :
PHI 6-16 at home after a one run win

Atlanta -122

Hudson alone at this price is good enough in my book, but the Reds are
falling fast. This will stop the Reds from giving Volquez the 9 runs of support
he is used too. The reds are just 1-9 in game one of a series. CIN 9-21 in May

Hudson : 38-7 TSR after a game where he did not walk a batter

Dodgers -103

Rox are playing bad and the Dodger blue are hitting a ton, I'll take
it.

I am sorry a team playing this well against the Red Sox who are struggling at
the plate to me is a pure value play and I am on it.

After the break I am back with bases and I am going to start with the early
games. It is great to take a break during the baseball season and get a renewed
look at the diamond.

Houston @ Philly

The first game of the day brings us an interesting meeting as Myers and
Philly take on Backe and the Astros. I like the Phills but the juice is way too
high to back Myers. He may have some okay numbers overall but in day games this

Everyone is surprised to see the Cardinals doing so well and they look to do
it again today against the Brewers. hate on Lohse all you want but is numbers
have been great. 2-0, ERA and WHIP just over 1. Parra is a young good pitcher
for the Brew Crew but in the early going the road has not been good to him. The
Brewers and Prince have just not been hitting of late getting just .195 against
righties and struggling to score. Finally the Cards have the edge with the
bullpen and to me that hits all big three angles with the starter, bullpen, and
hitting. Everyone is looking for the cards to start falling but I am going to go

One for sure after day one is that any bettor that watched the game could see

Before getting to my usual stats, trends, and quotes I wanted to highlight two things that really make me like this game tonight.

1) Beckett is an obvious one as he has placed himself in elite status when it comes to being a clutch pitcher in the playoffs. Time after time he not only performs well but dominates the other team. On the other side of the coin you have C.C. Sabathia who has done the opposite. He has failed in the spotlight and not yet performed on a national stage.

2) Manny being Manny is just what the Boston Red Sox need right now. From celebrating a home run that he should not have to saying that if they lose tonight it is not the end of the world he has helped his team in the last two days. The focus should be on the red Sox with the back against the wall and how they are going to win instead Manny focused it on him and that will help his teammates. H has also forced the Indians to think about him and have to answer questions about him and whether or not they plunk him after his showboating the other night. This is genius if you ask me.

The Red Sox are 83-43 against the ML as a favorite of -110 or higher this season. A large portion of those wins came with Beckett on the mound, as the Red Sox have been unbeatable 10-0 as road favorites with the former Marlin on the hill.

Roger Clemens (6-6, 4.40 ERA) will not allow a lingering elbow injury prevent him from a potential swan song at Fenway Park. After throwing 40-plus pitches off the right field mound at Rogers Centre on Thursday, Clemens proclaimed himself ready to face the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, according to a report on the New York Yankees' web site. "I'll push my body until it pulls back a little bit," said Clemens, who had two cortisone shots in his right elbow last week. "All I can hope and trust is that the doctor got the right spot, and listen to the guys here and other guys who have had elbow issues and cortisone shots. I'm the old guy. I'm the old horse. I'm going to go out there and be effective." According to the report, Yankees manager Joe Torre watched Clemens' session, flanked by pitching coach Ron Guidry, and said that the chances of a Rocket re-launch in Boston - where he has not pitched during the regular season since August 31, 2003 - are good. "We'll wait, obviously, until (Friday) to see how he comes in," Torre told the web site. "But it looks like he'll be all right." Clemens also had a bullpen session prior to Tuesday's game in Toronto, throwing at about 80 percent effort. "They (doctors) think I can handle it," Clemens told the Daily News after the Tuesday session. "They said I had to be careful of the forearm, there's some bleeding in it and I knew that because it doesn't lock up like that. It's the wear and tear of pitching."

Clemens, 45, had the muscles in his forearm lock up on him in his last outing, a 7-1 loss to Seattle on September 3 in which he gave five runs and eight hits in four innings. If he is able to pitch Sunday, Clemens could possibly be making his final regular-season start at Boston, where he started his Hall of Fame career in 1984.

Clemens will be opposed by Boston's Curt Schilling (8-7, 3.94 ERA) in this ESPN Sunday Night Baseball showdown. Schilling has pitched decently lately, but the Red Sox offense hasn't given him much support. The right-hander has a 2-2 record and a 3.48 ERA over his last five starts.
Not surprisingly, the game is a pick'em with these two veterans on the mound. Oddsmakers aren't sure whether these two can get it done anymore, thus they set the total at 10 runs.

This game is impossible to take for me. The Mets would be the play since they are hitting the ball well and the Reds bullpen is blowing up on a daily basis with an ERA over 9 in the last three games to include blowing yesterday’s lead. However the key to this game may be the young starter for the Reds, Tom Shearn. He has pitched twice against Florida and St. Louis just allowing 3 earned in each start. If he does that again the Reds could b in this one since they hit Maine hard in his only appearance against them.

Phillies Vs Braves

Kendrick faces off against Hudson in the rubber match of this series and if you look at the last three starts for both pictures you may be stunned to see that Hudson’s numbers are much worse and sports and ERA over 6 in his last three starts. In Hudson’s last five starts against the Phillies he has given up 19 earned runs and this will be the first time the Braves see Kendrick. The phillies are hitting a robust .328 in the last ten against right handers and will get hits today for Kendrick.

Francis has had a great year but you should not overlook Cain in this spot either. Cain’s numbers in the last three are just as good and the average against are much lower at just 1.7 runs per game. The giant’s bullpen is much better as well with a bullpen ERA lower in the last three by more than a run. Cain has just allowed 4 earned in his last four against the Rockies while Francis at 13. The Giants get the upset today.

Morris has pitched really well of late and is proving to the doubters that the trade was worth it. He has a very respectable ERA in his last three starts and Belisle has done well because of run support and he will not get that against Morris. This to me is a simple play and the fact that the jags have announced they will play the starters deep and the Packers have not gives an edge to the Jags.

Jacksonville is 10-2 against the spread on the road when the 'total' is 35 1/2 to 42 and it has cashed 10 of 12 off a double-digit victory, including six of seven away from home. The Jaguars are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road outings.

These are the kind of angles you want to take advantage of in the pre-season and I look to do it tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies at Pittsburgh Pirates (-106, 9 ½)

This is a classic look-ahead situation for the Phillies. They begin a 10-game homestand on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets – all teams involved in the either the Wild Card or NL East title race.

If Philadelphia overlooks the Pirates, it could be a long day. Ian Snell is a solid starter who’d have a much better record if his bullpen could hold a lead. Offense hasn’t been a problem for the Bucs; they've scored more runs in August (121) than any other club in the majors. They’ve also clubbed out 27 homers in 17 games this month.

“Another excellent offensive game,” Pirates manager Jim Tracy told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette after an 11-6 win on Saturday. “We are swinging the bats extremely well.”

Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers (-102, 9)

Looks like the pressure is finally starting to get to the young Brewers. They've lost 14 of their last 20 and lost the lead in a division the Little League champs could probably win.

“I’m tired of making excuses for it, I really am,” manager Ned Yost told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But, realistically, we have played .500 baseball once in 15 years and now we’re focusing on winning a championship.

“That’s a big jump, with a lot of expectations. These kids are in uncharted territory for them, this time of year.”

It won’t get any easier today as the Reds send their ace Aaron Harang to the mound. Cincinnati is 19-6 in Harang's starts and 34-63 with everyone else.

With all the signings going on in Chicago, you’d think the White Sox were running away with their division instead of bringing up the rear, a game behind the Kansas City Royals.

General manager Ken Williams signed veteran right fielder Jermaine Dye to a two-year extension on Saturday after securing Mark Buehrle a month and a half ago.

“On the heels of a six-game losing streak, it’s awkward for me to answer the question in this fashion, but I believe we’re close,” Williams told reporters when asked if his club could make a quick turnaround next season. “Our starting rotation has been consistent, solid for the entire season, with the obvious exception of Jose (Contreras). But I expect that to improve and get better.”

Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers (-3, 35)

Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan says his starters will play one or two series (10-12 snaps) tonight against the 49ers. After Jay Cutler and crew are off for the night, quarterback Patrick Ramsey and running back Mike Bell will play the remainder of the first half.

Domenik Hixon, a 2006 fourth-round pick, is expected to make a surprise start opposite Javon Walker at wide receiver in place of the injured Rod Smith.

Tight end Tony Scheffler and wideouts David Kircus and Brandon Marshall are all expected to sit out.

San Francisco starters will play 15 plays or until the end of the first quarter - depending on which comes first. The second stringers will finish the half and the scrubs will play the entirety of the second half. QB Trent Dilfer will lead the second unit offense with inexperienced Shaun Hill leading the charge afterwards.

Running backs Michael Robinson and Maurice Hicks will split carries in the first quarter since starter Frank Gore is out with a broken hand. Sixth-round draft pick Thomas Clayton is expected to get the bulk of the rushing attempts the rest of the way.

49ers head coach Mike Nolan said he and his coaches are particularly interesting in seeing his new players – nine draft picks and seven free agents.

Preseason football gets underway tonight with Seattle Seahawks face off against the Chargers.

If you were to scour over recent NFL history, it would be unlikely that you would find two more disappointed division winners than both Seattle and San Diego one year ago. Coming off an almost Super season, the Seahawks never really spread their wings and went 9-7. After sneaking past Dallas, they were quietly eliminated by Chicago in the Divisional Round.
So too was the fate for the Lightning Bolts, whose unceremonious playoff exit was even more painful. A 14-2 season was ruined by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

For Seattle, the problem was injuries. Those happen some times, so management still believes their team should be a contender once again (four straight playoff appearances). However, in San Diego, the answer was not so simple. The blame for the playoff flameout was placed squarely at the feet of now former head coach Marty Schottenheimer. Norv Turner now takes over the helm, perhaps walking into a better situation than any peer past or present. Still, a good situation has never helped Turner before.

Schottenheimer was at least a proven commodity during the regular season. Turner has never been a winner as a head coach, going a combined 54-82-1 in stints with Washington (1994-00) and Oakland (2004-05). He served as the Offensive Coordinator for the 49ers last year. While we will get to see Turner, one person you won't see is MVP LaDanian Tomlinson, who doesn't play during the preseason. Michael Turner, the best backup in the business, starts in his place. (Norv) Turner has stated that the first-team will play about a quarter. At QB, Phillip Rivers starts, before giving way to Billy Volek for the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Charlie Whitehurst will close things out. Both squads went 2-2 SU during the preseason last year, but the Chargers earned a win and cover right here in San Diego, over Seattle, 31-20 as four-point favorites. Still, the money is coming in on the underdog here. After opening as five-point pups, the Seahawks are now getting just 3.5 points from the oddsmakers. Both teams also earned a split at the betting window last preseason. San Diego did win their 2006 preseason opener, 17-3, over Green Bay. Seattle lost theirs, 13-3, to Dallas.

Unlike the Chargers, the Seahawks superstars will all be seeing time Sunday night. However, it won't be much. Coach Mike Holmgren is going to be limiting QB Matt Hasselbeck's playing time throughout the preseason, as he continues to rehab his surgically-repaired left shoulder. After Hasselbeck departs, Seneca Wallace will take over. David Greene and rookie Derek Devine fight to finish things out. RB Shaun Alexander and OL Walter Jones will both start.

Want to see an unheard of pitcher come out and make a great start? Olson tonight will be that guy. He is a lefty that has promise and he is going against a White Sox team that is limp against left handers hitting just over .200.

Olson, a 23-year-old left-hander and one of the organization's top pitching prospects, will have his contract selected today from Triple-A Norfolk, where he is 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 17 starts. Olson will be starting in place of Steve Trachsel, who went on the disabled list Saturday with a strained gluteus muscle. He will get some help in support as it looks as though Mora will be returning to the lineup for the O’s tonight as well. They should also get help in the pen with Williamson slated to return if needed. The White Sox bullpen is in tatters and still pitching horrible and this will be a big win for the rookie tonight.

One of my favorite plays on the board tonight is the O’s. Ace Vs Ace as Bedard takes on Buehrle and Bedard has the much better numbers in the last three starts to include a tiny WHIP below 1 in his last three starts. While Buehrle has decent numbers in his last three it’s the hitting that is the difference. The O’s hit lefties better than the White Sox and in a big way. They also have the edge in the bullpen and will get the win tonight on the road.

Who is your team and what do you think will be best for them tonight?

Although there are better storylines with who wuill go first Oden/Durant, will KG be traded and to who and the Kobe story...I am a Celtics fan so my concern is what Ainge may do or not do...

I will be unhappy of: We trade Al Jefferson for anyone. Our best talent on the board in my eyes is untouchable especially if we group it with the #5. Even when we were almsot locked up having KG (KG trounced it) I was not happy with giving away Al. I will alsonot be happy if we make a trade for a veteran that will play one year and leave us. This will just bring us more cap room at the end of the next year and room to rebuild which is what we would do if we just draft tonight.

I would be happy if: We can find someone who actually wants to play in Boston. KG said no way and Marion followed up the same way and the same could be said for O'neal. Ray Allen could be a possible since he played college in UCONN but again we would be selling a good draft pick for nothing when we would just have to rebuild.

Who I want to draft: Yi Jianlian

Good upside for this kid and he will be a talent and surpass Yao Ming in maybe his first year and is already americanized. If the Hawks take him at #3 then Hoffard is the play. I know Pierce said that he would ask for a trade with no veteran acquired and I love pierce, but I am okay with trading him. Send him to the lakers and get Odom and Bynum and the lakers draft pick. Odom would be gone in a year and Bynum has tremendous upside and can't play with kobe. The extra draft pick would land us #19 and maybe Sean Williams from BC to solidy a solid front court.

Playing this one without an umpire but still feel good about it as both of these offenses are not putting up great numbers and playing in Atlanta will take a bat out of the lineup for the Sox.

The rematch game is a place I love to back the losing pitcher in the first outing and the Cardinals are just 3-9 in game one of a series after a win.

I will start in Philly were the Tigers are in town and fresh off a stomping over this Philly team last night.

Philly -105

In a lefty vs lefty meeting Miller will try to keep is impressive start going on, but I am not so sure it will happen. It could be stated the reason he has done so well is because he is getting 14 runs of support on average in his starts. Miller will be in for some trouble when he heads to Philly for a road start in a hitters park.

Chicago White Sox/Pittsburgh Over 8.5

The wind is blowing out for this game so Mother Nature is doing her part. Most of the time the first thing I talk about is the starters but today I am going to start with the bullpen. Both of these pens have had serious troubles holding leads and overall just doing a decent job. They both have high ERA’s over 6 in the last three outings.

Buehrle is a starter that could keep the pen out of this but know that he has only gone more than 7 innings twice in his last nine starts and the Pirates hit left-handers better than they do right-handers so they will be able to get some runs against him. Van Benschoten goes for the Bucs and he has not started since ’04 and it is safe to say that the pen will get a shot in this one.

Cooper is behind the plate and he has seen 8 of his 12 games go over the total. He backs that up with some good umpire trends.

There are several games that jump out at me and I am raising the stakes for tonight and taking a big shot. I will post, write ups and post them as I finish them to get them out as soon as possible. I will post umpire info as soon as it becomes available which may lead to some late total releases.

SF +133 (Triple Play)

This is the Red Sox being over valued by the books and the bettors when the Giants are the play tonight. The Sox are hurting dropping the last 2 out of 3 with the best pitchers on the hill and they are supposed to rebound with the worst starter in the rotation? The giants took 2 out of 3 from a quality Blue jay team and Bonds will be excited to see his first game in Fenway and will go deep tonight.

For as disappointing as Zito has been this year for the Giants his numbers crush Tavarez in the last three appearances. The bullpen of the Giants has been dominant lately posting an ERA just over 1 in the last three outings.

Pirates +112 (Single Play)

The bucs have played very well of late and just took two out of three from the rangers showing they can put up runs when they need to. Maholm goes for the Bucs and he pitched well against the White Sox already once this year and that is no surprise because the White Sox just hit .214 against lefties this year. Garland has several good starts with not much to show for it as they fail to give him run support. The bullpen has an ERA over 7 in the last three go around and the Buc offense is on fire right now.

This just sneaks in under my -150 threshold and I will take them on the run line as well. The o’s are going to tee off on the snakes tonight. Its rare that I bet on a team that has lost five straight but the D-backs have lost three straight and a streak is a streak. The Snakes struggle against lefties hitting .230 on the season and just .219 on the road. Bedard is starting to regain his form he had that made him an ace for this team and they will jump on Owings early and Bedard will pitch a gem. If you want to save juice stay off Halladay and get on Bedard.

The Cubs take on the padres today and I make a point of getting to know the Cubbies because they often play an afternoon game on Friday and a win here gives a great cushion gong into the night game. The problem is you have to wait for a total at Wrigley mostly based on the weather. A quick look at the latest reports has the winds blowing out so this total should be at least 8-9 range.

As of now I like the Cubs and the over but have to wait for the umpire, the posted total and of course the lineups.

Lee has been very bad posting an ERA over 7 in his last three starts and it does not look to get any better against the Marlins who hit lefties very well and can stock the lineup with players who hit them well.

I am looking for a bit of a hangover from this club after the great pitching performance by Verlander yesterday. Capuano has been known to control a game and I like him at this price today.

Webb’s pitching can keep them in this one and hitting will give this dog a shot to pay out. Webb’s numbers are much better than Wang’s and the bullpen edge is in the snakes favor.
