Early Game

Current Line: ATL -124 / Under 8 -105

Selection: Under 8 -105

When I saw the pitching match up for this early game all I could think about was game one of this series and how these two pitchers could mirror the performance put forth in that game. If you look at the last three games that these starters have pitched you may not think a pitching duel is on tap. Hudson who has pitched great throughout the year has stumbled a bit in his last three posting an ERA just under 6 and posting a record of 1-2. Those starts were against two powerhouses in Boston and Philadelphia and Milwaukee does not have that same type of firepower. Hudson has pitched his best on the road this year going 2-1 with an ERA over 2 and the opposition just hitting .274 against him. In his last three against the Brewers the under is 2-1 and he gives up on average about 3 runs a game.

Bush’s numbers are not impressive in his last three or overall but he did pitch well in his day start going 8 strong giving up just 3 earned. In his last four home starts he has just given up more than four earned once, so a good start today from him would not be out of the ordinary. Not to mention that many of the Braves hitters have yet to see Bush (no pun intended) so you can look for them to take an inning to adjust.

Dreckman is behind the plate today and that’s a good sign as he is mostly an under umpire. The under is 6-5 this year to include hitting five straight. When working Braves games the over tends to come in unless Hudson is pitching because when he pitches the under is 2-0. When working Brewers games the under has hit 5 out of the last 7 games he has worked. The bullpens have pitched well enough in relief top keep this one under the total today.

I am going to stay away from the side in this game. I like the Braves and Hudson however the Brewers started getting the bounces that a winning team gets which could be a sign they are turning things around.
