Afternoon AL
American League (Afternoon)
After hitting the two early games in the NL I would be remiss if I did not take time to check out the American league side of the house.
Minnesota Vs Angels
The Angels are red hot and cashed the first two games of this series for me and extended the winning streak at the same time.
The Twins have been outscored 26-6 during their four-game losing streak and are hitting just .183. They have posted a 7.03 ERA during the skid, which Kevin Slowey (0-0, 1.50) hopes to lower when he makes his second major league start for the Twins.
The right-hander pitched well in his debut on Friday, holding Oakland to one run and five hits over six innings in Minnesota's 3-2, 10-inning victory.
"It was pretty amazing," Slowey said. "When we got here, I went out and walked around and tried to have that 'Oh my gosh' moment before the game. I felt like I made the pitches I needed to make. A couple of those at-bats dragged on."
This is the last of a very long road trip for the twins who will still be without Morneau in the lineup till they get back to the dome. I am going to pass on this one because it is either the Angels are nothing but with Slowey pitching somewhat decent this could easily be a one run game.

Baltimore Vs Seattle
In this series the orioles have held the lead in both games but big rallies by the Mariners have led them to be 0-2 at this point heading into this afternoon’s game. The loss has continued a losing streak with little miscues costing the Orioles a shot at gaining on Boston in the division. Going up against Washburn should not make things any better for them today. Cabera has pitched well against the Mariners in the past but this year is issuing plenty of free passes and that is not good with the way the Mariners are hitting right now. His BB/K ratio and his ERA of over 6 in his last three starts will be his downfall today. Washburn goes today for the Mariners and he has gotten over 6 runs of support in his last three starts and his teams have won 6 out of the last seven games against the birds. With great run support and plenty of base runners the Mariners will not have to come from behind to get this one. Hitting this one three times!
